meet me in the dark (AR)

Anna Richards
Meet Me In The Dark.
We have decided to trim the final suicide attempt because it is long winded and otherwise you end up not giving sympathy to Katie Butler (our main character). The whole point of Katie committing suicide is to give a psychology effect of the consequences of homophobic bullying.
The scene where Hallelujah is playing (where Katie gets pulled to the floor by a bully) is a new scene which I quite like because the camera is far away and you can just see Katie being attacked. I think this a small but powerful scene because of the camera angles.
We decided to change the name from “Yes I Am” to “Meet Me in the Dark”. We changed the name because originally it was named after a song by Melissa Etheridge (which is about love and how powerful it can be). However, we didn’t have space to feature the song so we changed the name to one of the songs which is featured in failed suicide attempt. I think “Meet Me in the Dark” is actually a better title for the film because the song is about not being able to love because of something such as how some homophobic people believed homosexual love is not the same as heterosexual love.
The genre of the film is turning into more of a horror film (due to many of our influences coming from horror psychology films such as Black Swan, Saw, Rules of Attraction and The Broken). We are trying to turn into more of a drama root so we are going to watch some dramas.
We are going to film a more bullying scene’s because it makes sense in our heads but not the audience’s. So we have to make it clearer of the bullying aspect. Also, we are going to explore Katie Butler’s love for Jess (Molly) because it makes it more of a dramatic and serious.
